Family-owned bakery Bresnan Bread and Pastry is set to expand its downtown McKinney location.

The bakery, which opened in 2022, specializes in artisan breads and pastries. Goods baked daily at the bakery includes sourdough bread, pastries, quiche, cookies and pie. The shop also offers pizzas on Friday nights.

The project will expand the shop into a space adjacent to the existing bakery and add 1,800-square-feet to the business’s location, which will primarily be used to add seating for patrons. The expansion is set to begin in May and is expected to be completed by early fall, owners Matt and Jenna Bresnan said.

“While there are sure to be some interruptions, there are no scheduled closures and we are working with our team to keep business running as usual,” Matt and Jenna Bresnan said in an email.

The couple aimed to open a “sit down bakery” when they envisioned their business, and the expansion project will enable that goal, they said. Patrons of the business also often ask for seating at the bakery.

“We are incredibly grateful to the community that has embraced us over the past [three-plus] years,” they said. “Without this community, we would not be able to sustain and expand our business, and fulfill a longtime dream.”

Plans are also underway to expand the menu at the bakery, they said, including adding breakfast and lunch options.
